Who doesn’t love the ponytail.  One of the most quick and versatile hairstyles anyone can execute.  There are different ways to create the pony tail, just take a look at fashion runways, Fashion Week,  or check out the  MTV People’s Choice Awards, in late summer. Talk about hot!  It’s smooth, chic, glamorous and sophisticated. Currently pony tails are worn high… But, of course you can always refer to the classically worn ponytail, worn at the base of the neckline, for the more mature woman. And as always, we never, never want to pass up an opportunity to show off a classic chignon!

Covering the Grey

Eventually we all get on the bandwagon, get contacts (never mind those reading glasses) and decide that we need some color to lighten up and brighten up!. It’s the mindset of the contemporary woman, AKA the “It Girl”..or take it one step further, the “It Factor.” More than likely, those little finicky grey strands will eventually show up in the crown of your hair…. that’s the center of your head, babe!  When grays first appear typically it can be handled by a demi-permanent (color system w/o peroxide or ammonia).  However, grey hairs growing in, tend to take on a more wiry consistency, then the other strands that surround them. As we evolve in time, the cuticle of grey hair tightens to the degree that chemical color assistance is required in color application adherence — to successfully nail it!   Do remember, the coloring process helps relaxe and soften to blend in.  So color to the your hearts content, and let the world be your imagination and your palette.

Frizz Free Forever And, Ever among other Delights…

One of the topics du jour these days, is Frizz Free Forever. That’s the buzz around town, and right here in this neck of West Hollywood. Getting rid of frizzy hair most definitely has quite a history. Frizzy hair types are in a huge spectrum, with all levels of frizz. On the other hand, some hair may be easily straightened by merely adding product before you dry. Structurally, other hair will require excessively heated tools, such as flat irons, curling irons, and a diffuser to smooth out the frizz in your mane.

However, heating tools are merely temporary in nature, and must be repeated after exposure to moisture. That brings us to hair straightening. Years ago, the Japanese developed a system of permanently straightening the hair that is chemically based. The chemical used in this process is ammonium thyogylocic. Hair once treated by this system will permanently be effected, and hence there will be some structural integrity of the hair, lost in the process. On the other hand, 2 Years later, we’ve come along way! The Brazilians have now developed a brilliant hair straightening system without risk of any structural hair damage, and lasts between 2-4 months, depending on hair care. This process is known as a Brazilian Keratin treatment (BKT). This method replaces the ammonia with Keratin, a rich emollient that softens the hair, and adds a lovely bounce and shine. To know what type of treatment your hair requires please give us a call and make an appointment with Michael John, to drop in for a personal consultation! Catch up on the latest, and see What’s Up!
